break fast our will

The wind carries our will
Through the water
To find earth;
Through earth
To fire.

The heart flame
Forms sudden ceramics:
Vessels, bowls, pitchers
To pour water
Through cupped hands.

A wooden basin splinters;
The pelvis holds earth;
The tea kettle hisses,
Steam sings
Break fast.

geometry

I believe but cannot prove
I would never try to convince you
that one and one is two.

God made the stars
from fire and ice:
the melody

of strummed guitars,
geometry, the silence
of the wise;

the firmament in minor chords;
impossible dragons:
love and hate.

Celestial bodies
strung out
in space.

I trust in faith
without the hope
that death ends life.
